Searching For What's Right Before You.A Poem by Megan:)
Searching.
searching the sea of faces, the crowd of possibilities, for a possible counterpart, complement. A handsome face, dimples delving into edges of a wide, pearly-white smile; sadly it conceals a broken heart burning with rage over past pain and abandonment. A tall, broad-shouldered man, eyes the clear-blue color of a crystal lake; regrettably, they conceal the squandering nature, an addictive personality. The deception of looks sends me into a whirlwind of senses- a man with laughter so bubbly and contagious, a man who smells like the sweet scent of freshly dried laundry, a man whose hands are as soft as a baby's bottom; unfortunately, all of them carry quirks which make them an impossible match. Then, as the search ends in hopeless naught, and you sit yourself down in the same homeroom class you've been in for the past four years, oh no! you drop your pen. And the boy who saxt net to you these past few years without saying a single word, the boy who you recognize is now a man, bends over and picks up your pen. And as he's handing it to you, you gaze through his clear glasses, notice the light in his beautiful sea green eyes, and you listen to the sound of his soothing voice, saying, "Here you go." And you wonder, Why haven't I ever noticed this boy--no, man-- before? And you can't help but smile at the simplicity of life and its lessons. Even the one as simple as: "Sometimes what you're searching so desperately for is standing right before you. You just weren't wearing the eyes to see it." © 2012 Megan |
