![]() Weather the StormA Poem by Captain Goldpantswhen we weather the storm so desperate, dark
when we fight
three sails to the wind
crashing waves to the deck
threatening
pulling us down
undoing our course
our voices drown
all sound is thunder,
crashes
and clanging of the bell
black waves buck
kick at the hull
let the stallion
from the stable
when we weather this storm
when the salt spray
stings our eyes
burns our lips
panicked
out of control
in our fear
we still know
we must be strong
resolved
our beautiful ship
we must be steeled
and the ship steered
to its true course
I say,
take down the sails
and heaviness of spirit
for
build we did
from this mighty heart
this comely craft
splendour abounds
and strength of keel
let us listen to the sea
let our ship
respond and caress
the angry tide
tack to the curl
our heads held high
we'll weather the storm
for we see the breaking sky
beyond the clouds
of doubt
to this quest
I will hold you
tightly, tightly
then
let this ocean be our friend
carrying us
gracefully
and we see the horizon
again
my love
steer this ship
with me
when the morning comes
bright and clear
let us break the day
with laughter
our heads up
our arms
and hearts open
we fill our lungs
and heark
to the four points
of our compass
of love
let it spin
dizzily
until we have chosen
our bearing true
now fill our sails
and sail away
away, away
and the wide, wide ocean
at once our friend
a sunset
to feast the eyes
a full moon
to have and to hold
a star to guide us
we see
and the ocean
will deliver us
for our land
we seek
our meadows green
and to this quest
I will hold you
tightly, tightly
until then
this ocean is our friend
carrying us
gracefully
and we see the horizon
again
my love
steer this ship
with me
