education

A Story by sette
"

We are faced with the paradoxical fact that education has become one of the chief obstacles to intelligence and freedom of thought. – Bertrand Russell

"

The subject in my doctoral class yesterday was all about Russell’s negative theory on Education. He had presented three divergent theories and one of those struck me the most and that is, education gives a person ample opportunities for growth yet it hampers the other influences given to that person. It is ironical that he tends to view Education in a negative way basing from his own life which was a little bit sad and lonely. He was home-schooled, orphaned at an early age and spoiled by his grandparents. He was married for four times and has sired several children who grew up to be liberal like him. He believed that when a person knows more, he becomes stupid.

If I would think in a shallow manner, what am I doing in the school, finishing my doctorate degree with all the reports and papers I have to make with the dissertation piece that I have to complete? But if I have to analyze it a bit deeper, yes it is true too much knowledge makes a person stupid because there is more room for doubts and in the end will just confuse you more.

I entered this profession because of two things, first I want to make a difference though how little it could be and second, it is my calling and has been my calling for more than two decades now. It is reciprocal and a two way process at the same time, my students learn from me and I learn from them.

Well structured,thought provoking, essay sette.
I perceive education as a complex system of beliefs.
Much of any curriculum is nothing more than outdated dogma regurgitated in an endless loop, bearing no practical applicability.
Schools should ignite the desire to learn and keep on learning, as well as practical guidance on how to function and thrive in today's society.
I believe, those in charge lack this fundamental wisdom.
Amassing knowledge is good, although not a substitute for common sense and moral fiber.

THANKS A LOT

I don't know my friend. I believe education does expand our thought range and make us better at making decisions. When we learn. We can confuse things, we once believe in. My father told me often. Education, education and more education. Never allow anyone to look down at you. I agree with your final thoughts. Thank you for sharing your words and your thoughts. I did enjoy.
