rejection

rejection

A Poem by sette

I was in my freshman year,

my most hated subject was next

on my schedule.

I just hope my professor

will be interesting.

Maybe it was my lucky day

after all,

not only was he interesting,

but good looking too.

If there really exists

love at first sight,

then maybe I was in love.

My most hated subject

became my favourite subject

all because of him.

And that  hero worship

turned into infatuation

or maybe crazy love.

I gathered my guts

to send him a sweet love letter

with all the pouring of young emotions.

Next day, I received a note

in my locker,

thinking that it was a sweet

reply to my letter.

Without reading,

I was daydreaming,

I was floating in air

I was simply ecstatic.

Back to reality,

a few minutes later,

holding the note,

it had read;

“Stop this foolishness,

do something about your grades”.

He took me for a fool,

a blind, lovesick fool.

So this is what it means

to be rejected.

So painful.

Amazing how love makes us overcome the things we fear or hate the most- all part of the learning cycle- better is to come🌹

AMAZING! This is so poignantly honest & detailed & palpable! I'm really stunned by the way this comes across, every word, a compelling story. I'm filled with mixed emotions becuz of how it must feel to be in either one's shoes, alternating between compassion & questioning. You know you've written a balanced story when the reader can empathize & criticize both characters! I love it when a writer does not try to plant the conclusion in the reader's mind, but just leading the reader to a place of scrambled pondering! *smile* Fondly, Margie

no problem my friend
i had a college professor for an English Grammar class...thought there might have been a mutual crush...then she yelled at me for not trying hard enough...i was stunned...i was the second best in the class....the girl who beat me on grades was just BETTER than i was...that was the fact...i would like to think this teacher got on me because she cared---but maybe she was just frustrated with my effort...My freshman English teacher in 1968 was really cute...my friend and i both had a crush on her...and we were going to ask her to lunch...and then at the same time we both saw the engagement ring...crushed again..ha ha.
this brings back memories....

That is a terrible way for him to handle that! When I was reading the end, I felt the rejection, and its not a good feeling! I'm sorry that this happened.
