To my best buddy,
The very
first time we met, we argued about
socialism in our country. Over bottles of beer, we debated whether we made good
choices during the last election. You dropped me off, I was a little tipsy, I know
it was the start of a beautiful
friendship.
The next
morning, you showed up at the house, hauling me in my pj’s, uncombed and God
forbid! haven’t even brushed my teeth. You were just damn excited to introduce
me to your mother and to eat the heavenly breakfast of fried rice and dried
fish with tomatoes. I know we were destined to be friends.
Years passed, a
lot of things had happened. Some were not supporting our friendship while
others were just happy. A lot were expecting there could be more than
friendship because we are of opposite sex. We have talked about this a lot over
balmy skies, picturesque beaches, secret meetings, and even during sleepovers.
FRIENDSHIP OR LOVE?
I am not the naïve
woman others may think of, my best buddy had fallen in love with me for a long
long time but he knew that I can never sacrifice friendship over love and it
stays that way.
My best buddy,
I know we will always be special to each other for a million lifetimes. Thank
you for just being you, for loving me and understanding me.
I am proud of
how you turn out to be; a good husband and a good father to your three
children. Thank you for choosing me as a godparent not only once but twice and
thank you for everything.
Your buddy,
