My yellow friend.

My yellow friend.

A Poem by BlakeL79

One day the yellow canary came to sit with me.
I did not ask to touch it's life, but merely offered.
She poured out her melody, not knowing that I listened.
Flew away with nary a word goodbye.
The next day I waited and again the canary sang.
Not for me, but still I listened.
On the third the canary did not arrive,
Yet I waited, and I listened.
Dawn of the fourth day, the canary flitted beside me.
The canary sang, but not for me. I patiently listened.
Two days before another song, still not sung for me.
      I awaited and I listened.
Five days past, and the canary comes to me.
Today the canary sang for me until I left.

I listened.

The canary has not returned, yet every day I still listen.
