Cliched, but true.

Cliched, but true.

A Poem by BlakeL79

We cannot change the river,
it flows where we must follow.

To fight the current simply leads,
down paths of pain and agony.

Taking sand in your hand,
gripping it so tight.

Stone and grit that tears,
the losing of your life.

Tiny grains are to be craddled,
not as though you are unable.

The oak that bends,
is the one that doesn't break.

Just because it's offered,
doesn't mean we must take.

There is strength in yielding you know,
not simply commanding, but in letting go.

"Just because it's offered, doesn't mean we must take." Oh this was a HUGE lesson for me to learn...I used to accept to be polite--nevermind how detrimental it was to my very being! Yielding does take strength, much more than is realized. I really really like this write. Great piece...thank you for leading me to it!
