Never a child.

Never a child.

A Poem by BlakeL79

When you wounded me, I embraced you.
When it all fell apart, I held us together.

Never a child.

There was no youth, only responsibility.
While you were free, I clung to sanity.

Never a child.

You had friends, I sought intellects.
There is no jealousy, but what did I miss?

Never a child.

You rebelled, I cared.
Large shoulders bear harsh burdens

Never a child.

Once I thought of freedom,
Another needed me.

Never a child.

Abandoned through growth,
By a child who did not.

Never a child.

Can I miss what I've never known?
Now I live for myself.
