The Cleansing

The Cleansing

A Poem by BlakeL79

It is over,
it is done.
My life has just begun.

I am free,
we're apart.
Time to mend my broken heart.

I'm glad you're gone,
happy you've left.
My emotions have been spent.

Thanks for this,
thanks for that.
Now I know there's no going back.

I was hurt,
now I'm strong.
This was always in the wrong.

You didn't want me,
I won't want you.
I'm just glad that we are through.

I am resilient,
I am brave.
I left what pride I had to give.

You wanted more,
I gave you less.
Sacrificed my happiness.

No more bickering,
no more fights.
I've moved on to higher heights.

I don't blame you,
don't blame me.
I'm sorry that one day you'll see.

Cleansed my soul,
rekindled my flame.
Letting go of all the pain.

I raise a glass,
can't look behind.
You won't waste my time.

Sounds like the dark cloud was lifted. It's admirable that you transformed the burden into relief. Very optimistic.

This has a really song-like quality - it would make the lyric for a great ballad. The only thing I didn't understand was `I'm sorry that one day you'll see', in the place where it is.
