River

River

A Poem by Maddox

Flowing

Swirling around the

Couple that wade deeper into the

Depths of the peaceful river

Water bubbling against

Bare skin.

Filling with life

Those that swim in

Its golden bliss.

Stones in the river floor

Slide against the feet

Flowing fast

Fast dragging her down

Pulling with every

Rush of water

Feet sliced against each

Brutal rock.

Red flushed the water’s

Surface.

He struggles towards his

Love

Hands outstretched

Reaching for her but

She is torn by the river

Carried away

Dragged under again

And again

Until the resistance leaves her

Body and she

Floats

Face down.

The water washes over her

Delicate skin

Carrying her farther and

Farther away until she is

No more.

The font and coloring is very clever, there is a sadness, but it is not forced or pushed like in a lot of work.

A very sad scenario. I'm sure similar incidents have occurred somewhere leaving someone heart-broken. Golden bliss? Hmm. Vibrant maybe?

Good poem.
