I Gave Myself PeaceA Poem by BelleA voice from the dark yells out: ‘Serve yourself justice!’ But to respond like his way Is, the same way, murdering my own
self; God did not make me to make my own
death, either to make the death of others. A voice from the dark whispers: ‘Give yourself peace. The bruises encompass my
understanding. The unseen wounds they encompass my entirety. None can ever comfort me except silence, But to be sheltered by silence, to
remain in pain is not peace. Peace, I realize, is absence of violence in the middle of conflict. So, I am giving myself peace the justice I
deserve.
