Silent Night

Silent Night

A Poem by Karleem Johnson

Sweet silence,

comforting darkness,

hidden desires made manifest,

things you'd never do

or say lifted from your chest,

no painful light,

no hated struggle,

the bright sounds are finally

muffled.

Love and lust swell

and blossom,

and every sensation feels twice

as awesome,

and every whispered word is truth,

no matter where you are,

if if is cloaked in darkness,

then it becomes a private

room for two.

The evil shine and glare

of people's hateful stares

cannot penetrate the ebony

night,

it protects with all it's might,

keeping at bay all the terrible light,

crushing all those who oppose it

with crippling fright,

so take joy,

and find your peace,

deep in the dark,

in the sweet silent night.
