Leave It Be/Old Memories

Leave It Be/Old Memories

A Poem by Karleem Johnson

Waves of confusion,

a distorted illusion,

make me feel an

explosive fusion,

of energetic

ice and flame,

leaving me gasping your name.

But this is now

and that was then,

we both know that

things can never be

the same, no,

not now,

not ever again.

We have passed that point,

never to return...

and yet..

And

you still possess

my dreams,

causing the stirring

of long dead things,

i guess that i still care,

that i care more than it seems.

Still, that's all you are to me,

nothing more than shattered dreams,

nothing more than memory's

pain filled scene,

we'd be better off

just leaving it be.
