One Year

One Year

A Poem by Karleem Johnson

One year of laughter

and one year of tears,

one year of fighting and

confronting our fears,

no matter what happens love,

i'll still be here.

One year.

One year of moments so tender

we can't help but smile,

one year of me being stupidly

in love with a smile a mile wide,

one year of breaking through lies.

One year.

One year of kisses and

flicks on on the forehead,

one year of blushes trying to be hid,

of us fighting through

all the bullshit,

trying not to lose our heads.

One year.

One year of yearning

for each other's bodies,

one year of me being

incredibly naughty,

one year of learning,

one year of hurting.

One year.

One year of me

being your man,

one year of us creating plans,

one year of all night conversations

and love notes,

one year of dealing

with our fams.

One year.

One year of us repeatedly

getting sore,

one year of us trying to beat

each other's highest score,

one year of loving you

more than i've ever loved anyone before,

one year of us fighting this war,

one year love....

One year,

here's to hoping that we have many more.
