Chapter 5A Chapter by blackcayneKiss Me"So, Theo, how long have you been working at the cafe?" I leaned on my fist, looking out the window at the street lights whizzing past.
He pulled it open and held out his hand with a bright smile, hair flopped over to one side. I slipped my hand into it cautiously and stepped out lightly from the car. Our eyes locked for a second and the green in his eyes swirled before he looked away and reached for the back seat. Inside was a picnic basket while I looked where we were. There was a beautiful view of the city lights and there was a lone outdoor table perched a few meters from the edge of the cliff. I turned around and looked around the other side. There was a beautiful beach with the moon high up in the sky, water lapping quietly against the shore and a small wooden dock. I was so caught up with the beautiful view that I forgot all about Theo until he leaned his chin on my shoulder. "It's a beautiful view isn't it," he whispered, with a tone of awe in his voice. I reached my hand out to grasp his, "It's breathtaking." I felt him tense as my fingers intertwined with his gloved ones. There was a huge smile on my face as I turned to face him where he lifted his chin from my shoulder. "At least you're not kidnapping me," He laughed quietly and walked over to the picnic table where the basket was already sitting, our hands still holding each other. He had slender, long fingers and tingles were spread all over my hands. We sat down on opposite sides of the table as he unpacked the food. There were neatly packed sandwiches and 2 bottles of water. "Looks good," I smiled. We ate, quietly talking and when we finished he reached for my hand again. "Do you want to go walk on the beach?" He offered. I nodded as he went to put away the picnic basket in the sleek car. As we walked down to the beach, we both removed our shoes and swung them in the hands that weren't holding each other. The sand squished between my toes and we walked along the water. "Do you think there's such thing as love at first sight?" He asked, quietly. I looked at the sweet guy that I had come to know quickly as the funny, cute, caring person. He looked kindly down at me with soft eyes. My heart tugged as it sped up quickly. I used to never believe in that kind of things but since meeting him I had been questioning everything. I had no doubt that if we had met under better circumstances, where he didn't put my best friend into a coma, I would have been much more open to the idea. But if I did say that I believed in love at first sight he would have the impression that I loved him. .. I wasn't sure about telling him, especially a perfect guy like Theo, that I straight up loved him. He noticed that I was deep in thought and sighed, "Sorry, that was a really personal question. You don't have to answer" I frowned and squeezed his hand slightly, "I'm not sure." "That's okay." We were standing on the edge of the pier, the moon above us. He turned to face me and placed his shoes on the edge as I did the same. Straightening back up he traced his gloved down the side of my cheek as I shivered from his feathered touch, allowing my eyes to droop and cover his with mine, pressing it closer and fully to my flushed cheeks. He mistook my shiver from his touch for a shiver of cold and said, "Are you cold?" He asked, with concern. Without waiting for my reply he quickly pulled off his sweater, revealing a crisp white buttoned shirt that hugged his chiseled muscles. He handed it to me and I just held it in my hand. I was struck with a mischievous idea and quickly hid my cheeky smile by looking down and slipping my cardigan off, throwing both of the items of clothing a bit further down the pier. He frowned which was quickly replaced with surprise when I slid my arms around his waist, resting my cheek on his heart that was beating quicker by the second. He froze for a moment before encasing me in the warmth that was his arms. "Theo..." I breathed, quietly. "Yes?" "Do you like swimming?" I let the cheeky grin out as I tightened my arms around his torso and flung the two of us into the water. As we fell I heard him chuckle and snuggle his face into my hair. We hovered underwater for a few seconds, looking at each other before breaking the surface. As soon as I saw him come up with wide eyes, I started laughing hysterically and swum over to him. "Cheeky," He grinned and wrapped his arms around me again. Looking up at him with my fingers clasped around his neck, I snuggled my face into his muscled chest, breathing in his earthy scent, now mixed with the salty smell of the sea. I pulled my head from his chest and gazed into his beautiful green eyes. "I really enjoyed today," He grinned, hugely. "Even getting pushed into the water?" I wrinkled my nose with playful distaste. "Even getting pushed into the water." We gazed at each other as our smiles faded. "Maybe I should believe in love at first sight," I whispered, pulling my body closer to his so our fronts were molded together with no space between us. His breath hitched as his eyes flickered down to my lips before looking back up at my eyes. In the back of my mind I had a million questions about him. How did you put Hilary into a coma? Why do you wear gloves? What am I feeling? Why? Why? Why don't you kiss me? I swallowed and noticed our faces had indeed become closer together, inches separating our noses. His eyes widened for a second before returning back to normal, green swirling in his eyes again. "I really want to kiss you," he breathed, squeezing my waist so it molded closer to his. "Then why don't you?"
