Aqua Vestibulum- Part 1

My parents found me down by the shore near a beach where they had just settled down as a couple in their beach house with an energetic three year old boy. They were taking a romantic stroll across the shoreline when they came across a little basket. When they opened it, they were surprised that there was a child lying in the folds of a baby blue blanket. Me.
***
Now at the ripe age of sixteen years I flung my sheets off at the tenth buzz of the alarm clock. The glowing clockface blinked eight o'clock and I groaned. Ducking into the hallway bathroom, hearing my mum shouting to hurry up, I flipped the light switch on and murmered, 'Gonna be late, gonna be late. Surfing, late.'
Quickly pulling off my clothes I jumped in the shower and started massaging shampoo into my black locks, a strand of the sun streaked brown fell into my eye and I felt my eye burn from the pain. It kinda felt like when you opened your eyes in the ocean salt water, but less natural. As I ran my fingers through the tangle, I caught sight of the two symbols embedded on the palms of my hands. Pausing I drank in the sight of the intricate patterns.
On my right palm there was a tattoo like symbol of a snowflake and on the left there was a type of wave pattern. Since I could remember there had always been patterns but when I was younger, the tattoos were only pea sized and as I grew, they expanded until the edges started to curl around the bottom of my fingers.
I sighed and traced over the wave symbol, letting the water pound over my shoulders. A knock at the door brought me back to reality and I finished showering, stepping out I stared at my misted reflection in the mirror. Hard. My light blue eyes didn't match the black strands of hair that framed my face or the natural brown streaks. Pulling on a long blue shirt and black shorts over my black bikini, I raced out into the garage where our border collie, Bennny, stood up and wagged his tail at the sight of me. I picked up my black shortboard and patted his furry head.
Jogging from our beach house to the edge of the ocean with the pattering of Bennys paws on the sand, I breathed the scent of the salt deep into my lungs, holding it in and letting it go. There was the usual stack of discarded clothes on the already warm sand in their usual spot and I looked out onto the beautiful waves. There were four spots riding over in various areas and I flung my excess clothes to join the pile. Benny barked happily at me once, sitting down as I jogged towards the ocean edge, I felt a tightness in my chest loosen as I waded out into the salty water. As I paddled, the cool feeling of the water against my arms made me forget everything and just want to swim. Reaching the closest person to the shore I saw the tanned back of Ardere with his grungy green shorts showing.
'Hey Ar!' I yelled at him.
He flinched and smiled, 'Hi Delora.'
I groaned, 'How many times have I told you to call me Lora?'
He concentrated for about two seconds, then said, 'one hundred and fifty six times.'
I muttered something about him being an idiot and kept paddling out. The next tan figure was my best friend, Cinderella, also known as Cinder. To be honost she really hated her name and she swore she would change it to something like Black Plague just to freak out her parents.
She had platinum blonde hair and the ideal model body, but if you knew her, she was nothing like a princess... More the complete opposite.
She turned around on her pale purple surfboard wearing her stark white bikini with black designs on it and grinned at me evily.
'How's Ardere?' she chuckled.
'Shutup,' I hit her jokingly, continuing to the next figure.
The next figure turned out to be my cousin, Wyatt. He had jet black hair like me with crazy red and orange highlights. He had a prominent jawline and wore navy blue shorts. I sat up next to him as we raised our arm for a fistbump.
'Sup Lora,' he grinned widely, 'late as usual.'
'Fashionably late I would say,' I laughed, continuing to paddle forward.
Last, but definetly not least was my brother, Tristan. He looked extremely casual on his black board with his grey shorts billowing out in the water. His brown hair shone in the morning light and I slapped him hard on the back.
'Hey Lora,' he murmered sleepily.
'Stop daydreaming dumbass,' I grinned and noticed an upcoming wave.
'Mine,' I called, turning around and flipping onto my stomach. Looking behind me I started to paddle and as I felt the wave tickle against my feet, I pushed off the board, smiling at the free feeling it gave me. As I rode it out, the exhiliration stayed with me as we continued for a few hours, courtesy of a few wipeouts fron Ardere. The day continued as we walked back to our beach house, our border collie trailing behind. The others placed their boards down as I walked around the corner to the outdoor shower. Stepping under the head I turned the faucet and let the water run down my face and shoulders. Running my hands through my hair, I heard someone cough. Frowning I turned quickly, splattering the stranger with the shower spay.
'Sorry,' I heard a deep unknown voice mumble. Tilting my head I drank in the sight of the newcomer.
He was wearing white board shorts and his skin that was stretched over toned muscles was considered pale by my beach standards. I caught sight of his eyes which were a stark white with a single black dot... Strange. His hair was black and had grey streaks which vaguely resembled mine. He frowned and his eyes flickered towards my wrists. I curled my hands protectivly.
'Who are you?' I asked, staring piercingly into his pale eyes.
'Fone,' he replied, sticking his hand out. 'I just moved here from Canada.'
I raised my eyebrows, water still pouring down my shoulders. 'Nice to meet you. Delora, call me Lora,' I said, taking his hand firmly, forgetting how he was looking at my palms. I never found out why, but whenever I was in contact with salt water, the tattoos disappeared for around half an hour then faded back. When I grasped his hand I felt an electric current race through my palm to my neck and I shivered.
He frowned as he looked down at our hands. Letting go I stepped around him out of the stream of water and gestured for him to have his turn. Walking out, I made eye contact with Cinder and gestured that I wanted to talk to her. Moving over to our balcony, I said, 'Did you see the guy that just moved here?'
'Yeah, he's pretty hot isn't he?' she winked at me. I blushed as I thought of his chistled muscles and replied, 'I guess.'
She started grinning like a maniac and blurted, 'This is like the first time you've been interested in a guy and he just walked in on youshowering!'
'Be quiet!' I hissed, 'I was wearing a bikini! Do you have to shout?'
'Yes!' she sang, skipping out. I rolled my eyes and changed into a pair of grey shorts and a white crop top showing off the tanned edge of my torso. Walking out of my room I saw everyone now changed, chatting noisily in the living room and my eyes locked with Fone. He gave me a heated look and excused himself, walking out the door to the balcony. I saw Cinder smirk as I walked out after him, rolling my eyes.
He was leaning on the black railing and I folded my hands on top of it next to him.
'So what's up?' I spoke, looking over the beach.
He looked at me holding my gaze as he straightened from the railing. He raised his left hand and clamped onto my right. I frowned down at it and gave him a confused stare. He turned my hand over and his piercing white gaze turned to the snowflake pattern in my palm that had faded back. His eyes widened. Pulling me into his arms I gasped in surprise as he pressed his torso to mine. I could feel the material of his shirt on my midrift and I swallowed. He whispered into my hair,
'I've been looking for you, Aqua Vestibulum. Delora.'
