America's Wild Horses

America's Wild Horses

A Poem by Black Cat Fever
"

A tribute to the wild horses and their sad fate.

"
horses rushing
heading somewhere
going no where
in human terms

tails streaming
manes flying
hooves thundering
kicking up memories
of their having
been here

wild and free
imaginary liberty
hear the stallion calling
his mares answer
and off they race
off into the distance
into the far distance

a sort of sadness settles
as I consider
the fate of the wild horse
of America
is not so good
these days

Author's Note

Black Cat Fever
The wild horses of America are being wiped off the wild lands and cattle are taking their place. Plus factories to slaughter horses are returning. Markets for horse meat overseas. Its all about the money. And the Indians are happy to go along with BLM in this killing of the wild horse. Some thanks for all the horse has done for people all over the world for many centuries.

The wild horses were a symbol of our great country once. They made us understand the freedom of the open range. I hope we try to save the wild and free horses. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Ah yes. How sd. The government caters to the cattlemen and their desires. Anything in the cattleman's way is killed..solves, coyotes, wild horses and so on. Bad people. I can go without steaks and hamburgers.
Excellent write on this tragic subject and plight of the wild horse. Where would we be if it hadn't been for horses as our form of transportation for far longer than the automobile.

Thank you. I agree with what you say here.
A beautiful tribute to the wild horses of America. It's a crime what the special interest groups (cattlemen,Indians,BLM) are doing to wipe them out so the land can be over run with cattle. Who wants to she herds of cattle? The cattlemen are out to kill off the wolves too. I can do without beef.

Impressive write Black Cat Fever!

thank you.
Such is what happens when greed is the goal, the cattlemen want the land and money for themselves as well as some of the Indian Tribes. I sure hope the horses survive, the those who love them will be able to save them in the end.

A beautiful poem describing the wild horses and the symbol of freedom they bring to life when you see them racing free...if you still can.

Wow. I love horses for they are majestic animals. It is sad indeed that greed is going to wipe out all the good, natural and precious things we all enjoy. It will be in the hands of the few...Thank you for penning this one...:).......
