Dear Mom and Dad

Yesterday,
I put on a wide facade.
I smiled and told them, "Everything was okay."
and that "I will handle anything that goes wrong."
and that "they didn't have to worry."
My parents were happy and that is all that mattered.
Seeing their relieved faces made it all worthwhile.
Only if they knew, how broken and insecure I was underneath the mask.
Only if they knew, I needed help more than anything.
Only if...

How many times in your life have you looked up crying and saw those smiling faces?
"Everything is okay, son. We are here and we will take care of everything."
Only if....
