These Walls Cant Hear MeA Poem by Keith RivasPoem about a character reaching their end and having final thoughts on what could have been.To an end the story came Never sorrow, seldom shame Had changed the way things could’ve been If only the people had listened in A chance for redemption But so much more An opportunity to flourish Not any kind of childish chore A repentant state of mind Saves often souls of men But are there souls worth saving Stuck in the darkened lion’s den? To stay focused, eyes open Was the hardest thing of all To let pride get in the way Was a tale that stood ten feet tall But break these chains Tear down now these walls The echoes screaming from inside of me Why, for so long, had I told a lie? I’m hoping for an answer Manna from the sky The ground looks up The sky shouts in my direction a thousand times But maybe all along It’s never been about me Cause if it ever were true There would never be a clear day in the sky But I reminisce… I never once asked for a happy ending. © 2014 Keith RivasAuthor's Note
