My friend

i believe my friend will know i'm speaking to him. just a random thought to perhaps cheer you up

As i watch events unfold

my heart is filled with sorrow

I have watched a young, beautiful flame begin to die out

a jewel lose its luster

a heart shattered

I weep for a fallen friend

not gone from the world

but hurt so badly that he begins to draw into himself

a friend that needs to remember his worth

though love seems to have failed him

i wish he'd understand that it was not love itself

but rather the lover he chose

To fault oneself for the misjudgment of another is folly

What one does not realize he has

another will cherish

I know the pain of heartache

i know the sting of depression

I am a being of darkness

and i realize that some things are just not meant to be

But through it all, i believe in the power of love

I believe in soul mates and destiny

And i believe you, too, will find love again

One day, your soul mate will stand before you

and you will know him when you see him

the love will be different

it will be pure 

and it will be openly returned

stand strong, my friend

for your destiny still lies ahead

I wish I could believe in soul mates. I also wish I could believe in love, but I've never had a reason to. Depression is something I know all too well unfortunately. This is a great poem, so full of emotion that you can feel with every word.
