Message to One Who Needs to Hear it

So long I have hung back and watched

i watched you take the harshest of words

I listened as you bore your soul

As you complained at the lack of love you feel

I watched you pick yourself up and go back for more

I watch from afar now as you lie to yourself

You convince yourself that things have changed

you convince your that things will get better

but deep down you know the truth

Abuse is abuse, whether physical or verbal

the emotional abuse is hardest to take

they leave scars no one can see

and perhaps no one can heal

I can only watch as you go to your doom

nothing i say can dissuade you from this strange desire

some would question if you like the abuse

but i know better

deep down, you hate yourself

you've forced yourself to believe that you can do no better

and because of this, you can do no better

i wait for the day when you'll let the sun shine down on you

when you'll let this black cloud drift away

I wait for your to see the beauty in yourself

the way others see you

I want you to realize you deserve so much better

you deserve true happiness

you should be spoken to like a human being, not a dog

You should not beg for attention

What you seek most may be before your eyes

It may not have come up yet

But you will find what you truly want and need

You are beautiful in every way

No matter what he may say

You are a precious jewel

but with him you are covered in soot

clean yourself off

let your light shine

you are the crown jewel

the top amongst the top

the brightest and the most brilliant

you are the sun

your world should revolve around you

He is not your sky

He is not your moon

He is a black hole

Be the sun

stay away from the darkness

chase away the dark

When you finally realize this

i pray it won't be too little, too late

Heed my words, for they are the truth

Remember your beauty, remember yourself

Be true to you and what you desire

It is your light that must pierce the darkness

Free yourself from the binds that hold you

I can relate to this and most of this has been said to me more than once. Loving one's self is not always easy. For me, next to impossible. Great poem.

Just absolutely amazing, Drako! I can't even pick a favorite part because I was hanging on to each word up until the very end. This is uplifting, inspirational and something many need to hear, many are worthy of hearing. People simply forget, after all the mental and physical anguish they forget that they are beautiful, their own rare gift and sometimes all it takes is someone to remind them.
