Regret

The end approaches

Darkness settles over my soul

Reflecting on years past

This feeling is not foreign

It is old and familiar

 

Like all forms of darkness

i know this feeling well

It starts out small and becomes so much larger

morphing into something much worse than what it was

 

Venturing into familiar territory

This feeling overcomes me

It consumes me

It brings pain with it

 

Escape is not an option

I must tread these waters as I have before

Carefully, precisely

Not avoiding the obstacles but facing them

 

It is a terrible feeling

questioning oneself and one's actions

Could this have been different?

Could I have avoided this?

Could I have done more to ensure happiness?

What if I hadn't done this or that?

Would the result have been different?

 

This is the feeling I cannot escape

This sea of doubt

Drowning in my own pain

This is regret

Wow, the imagery is great and the flow of the words makes it much more powerful. "The end approaches Darkness settles over my soul Reflecting on years past This feeling is not foreign It is old and familiar." I favorite this line, it speaks true to me. I liked this one a lot. Same as before though, uppercase I. But good poem. Its hard for me to review poems since I cant sit here and say "This needs to be changed...blah blah blah" because its your feelings and I cant change that. Poems are rough and cant really be reviewed.
