The Start of Tomorrow's

The Start of Tomorrow's

A Poem by brian hodge
"

Metaphysical, Rhyming, Existential

"
Not a habit worth breaking,
or, thirst apt for slaking.
Under the thrall of invisible stars....

If so, but a little,
then, well past the middle,
all one may riddle
is what has happened so far.

No plan, yet forsake,
all of the sense that I make.
Run on through fortune's stake,
on out to the end.

No other path I ride,
by mortal span I abide.
shame and regret are decried,
no weal, nor, purpose bend.

Never, a wish I made,
on every hope light does fade.
Desire has now turned to jade
in sad remorse.

Of this life given,
a brief span to live in.
My compass of time now riven
a step on the course.

As I lie waiting that -
bell may be heard
The resound repeating
on the strength of a word.
Logos, now, as chaos deferred

"Metaphysical, Rhyming, Existential" -- this makes me laugh becuz I can grasp only one of these words, in relationship to poetry! *wink! wink!* I rarely analyze the passage of time or the meaning of life or stuff like that, so I'm not fully picking up on the way you are presenting your ideas here. It seems like every stanza presents a different possibility, as to how life could be summed up or embraced, & each is unusual, thought-provoking! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
