Smile

Smile

A Poem by Nayan
"

How many times we do forget this special gift, and ignore all signs that it constantly tries to give to us? It all needs a single twine to resonate and touch our heart!

"

Today he saw a Smile!

In such an innocent style

And water flowed into the dried Nile

As his smile was back from exile!

He does not remember a thing -

The time when he said good-bye

To his eternal blessing

And never saw again to the sky!

When the flame quivered -

Did he ever try to enkindle?

And over time, when it out cried,

He let it go down and dwindle!

For him, world was closed,

And softness, all bulldozed.

When everyone took hands full of dew,

He chose sorrow and hatred in lieu!

And gradually, what became of him -

Was instinctive hate and dislike!

That he shouted at every little Tim,

And treated enemy and smile alike!

But perhaps, for him in store,

Was something better and more -

That he got a chance again to score,

When was touched by angels of yore!

And as he surfed back -

Through innocence and love - the rivers twain!

The waters filled his empty sack,

And by Jove, the heart pumped again!

And he, who had buried his gift

Under the mind’s garbage pile,

His dried face got a lift,

As he looked through the eyes of smile!

Author's Note

Nayan
I was moving through a dried, hot and dusty road, as I saw a face of a li'l boy peeping out of a bus standing by my vehicle's side! He smiled at me, as I too returned the favour. The mutual understanding and wireless communication via smile (that lasted some seconds), made my journey pleasant...

As I read this poetry aloud, it pleases my ears. Lovely words used. And indeed smile is the most beautiful gesture ever.... So, you keep smiling :)

Awesome lines.. I loved the touch of innocence and softness you gave to describe happiness for a child.. :)

Smiling at another is a gift of God while making another smile can be your gift to God. Hope more smiles are brought out on these pages by you.

His dried face got a lift,
As he looked through the eyes of smile!
The moment you had with that boy and the way you have gaptured and save it in a poem is amazing! i love it! beautiful!

Sometime a kind hello and a smile can make your day better. The poem is outstanding. I like the feel and the gentle emotion of your words. A positive poem to start my day. Thank you.

That is great !!
In these two

Today he saw a Smile!
In such an innocent style
And water flowed into the dried Nile
As his smile was back from exile!

But perhaps, for him in store,
Was something better and more -
That he got a chance again to score,
When was touched by angels of yore!
I think the rhymes of the same sounds are a bit distracting .
Only my opinion .But

For him, world was closed,
And softness, all bulldozed.
When everyone took hands full of dew,
He chose sorrow and hatred in lieu!

And gradually, what became of him -
Was instinctive hate and dislike!
That he shouted at every little Tim,
And treated enemy and smile alike!

And as he surfed back -
Through innocence and love - the rivers twain!
The waters filled his empty sack,
And by Jove, the heart pumped again!

And he, who had buried his gift
Under the mind’s garbage pile,
His dried face got a lift,
As he looked through the eyes of smile!

These are of immeasurable poetic beauty.
As rich as any dark Belgian chocolate!!!
God this was so sweet.
Your best by far by way far !
