"...everyone you love, everyone you ever heard of... aggregate of our joy and suffering, every saint and sinner in history lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam..." - Carl Sagan
Forget how insignificant and small we are! Forget about Carl Sagan and the story of the Pale Blue Dot !
Forget about death that touches us and our near and dear ones, And asks
us not to forget but Remember our temporary tiny existence! Forget that when we hurt someone, We don't hurt that 'someone', We instead hurt ourselves by Making ourselves even smaller!
And thus by doing all these, ...
Forget ourselves, The tremendous potential that our intellect had, Until we ourselves forgot and wasted it On petty things, Little ego, Tiny selfishness, Unwanted fights and False prides!
I was reminded of our extremely tiny and insignificant existence by one act of mine, and more so by the fallout of this act of mine! My friend, who in an appreciable and calm way, told me why I was wrong, and why not to repeat this with anyone, not just him!
I have known this always! I have read the works of Tagore and many other poets and writers who wrote of the life and its teaching through varied literary forms! But still I did forget, when it mattered!
This short-term outburst of my uncontrolled lapse taught me much more than the time it took to occur! The teachings were not new! But in fact, I was made to remember all that whose knowledge I have been taking for granted all these years!
As I realize this, I write a small satire on the forgetfulness of us, we mortals, myself included, who forget everything about our short life span, and in its lieu take the whole planet, the universe, and the whole humanity and its entire existence to ransom, threatening the very basic tenets of life and relationship!

The ending is true. So much opportunity for good. All we get is hate and war. I understand your thoughts. I fear for our world. Hate and violence had control. I pray for hope and kindness to overcome the desire to destroy life and the planet. I like the description and the story in the poem. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Don't know what would happen to our mother Earth, what we would leave for the coming generations; Nobody seem to drop their selfishness!!
For there we see all the greats and insignificant s that eve lived. There lies in the ground all that we ever knew or felt or touched A tiny marble like a piece of dust

So true! We think we have all the time in the world to get it right! Au contraire! Your words reflect your intent beautifully and the subject is an important one! Nice write!

What a spectacular display of defiance, showing that even a fact considered tried and true is open to interpretation. :)
