Theatre Of The Absurd

Theatre Of The Absurd

A Poem by Uche Paul
"

Once a politician is newly elected, what went around comes around.

"
Another man walked in as the new elect
And denounced the men before.
As ever, he began his act with apt effect,
So his name could sound as cellar door.

Several hours into the show
His falsetto still flowed as a white stream.
The jockey volumed his footsteps into lightning bolts.
It banged on my ears as thunder against the sky's beams.

Suddenly, he ceased grazing the stage.
Pulls off his veil & unveils his horrific DNA.
And Just as the men before who once denounced,
He flaunts his fangs & soon will too be denounced.

Unbargained acts lies savoury suspense.
Same acts begets boredom when continual repeated:
The hall is filled with yawns of protest against these Unexpected,
And everyone regret the dime each threw into the box as the show's expense.

That they are all the same, those tricky politicians.

I think its a character trait that can only be expressed in the realms of power:
Falsehood and greed and the element of surprise.
Very good Uche.
