NUN OF ST. CECILIAA Poem by Uche PaulUnveils a man convincing a nun to abandon her habit and ally with him, perhaps, because he met her before God did.
How wilt thou embrace eternal singleness
And shut thyself out of cupid's shade By true sense and admirers' bait, But traps thy purity within thy cell In false believe of ease of flee into the Pearly Gates When darkness reigns as sun be no more, But the mischief of Gog and the Magog: Whom, as the sand of the sea shore, Will encompass the City and battle those beloved As sermoned on the moor by that monk of St. Paul. Know ye not love to piety homage solely pays Hath wholly Lost some buds of delightful taste? Yet, Love as love in every sense is still of God If it be true and outwits lust. Oh St. Cecilia, reverse this chosen path of singleness, And mind my mind & save this fainting breath. ©INNOCENT PAUL 2015 PURITY™ © 2015 Uche PaulFeatured Review
