The Run

The Run

A Story by Dove
"

Personal experience of "almost" changing my life entirely

"
She packed her backpack as tears rolled down her face. She didn't wish to die, but she didn't want to stay either. She stuffed in clothes, a blanket, water and some food. She turned her phone off and hid it under her pillow. She dressed in full black. She opened the window. Everyone was asleep. She didn't bother with a letter. She believed no one would worry. She hopped onto the ground. The moon was full. She became mesmerized by it. She took a deep breath and wiped away the tears. "Run", she said. She charged down the hill and onto the street. She ran as fast as she could. She felt invisible. She sped down the empty, dark street. Her heart raced faster and faster with each dashing step as she realized the decision she was making. She stopped at a corner. On the left, she could run to a store, a friends house, civilization. On the right, she could walk for several miles in the dark to a great lake. She turned to face the right. She tried to look as far down the street as she could. A voice spoke. "Have a nice day!". It was her mother. "Hey, want to hang out tomorrow?", Her best friend asked her. She closed her eyes, and saw her lovers' eyes, looking straight at her. "You know I love you. I will always be here for you" He promised. It changed. In her classroom, her teacher looking with a concerned face. "Miss, are you ok?". The girl opened her eyes. "Hey, I wanted to know if you wanted to come to the park with me!"
"You are so awesome! Don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise."
"I miss you."
So many voices of people who would have cared. People who loved her. People who needed her.
She sat where she was and cried. An hour she sat there in her tears. She wasn't so sure she knew what she wanted. She hugged her backpack. She took a deep breath and relaxed. She wiped her tears. Then she stood and yawned. She walked back home and went to sleep in her bed. Back in the world that truly loves her.

Good thing she thought it over in such a way. It's hard to contemplate in a rational way why we should stop and think about the ones who love and care about us when we're troubled so much that we would run away. Sometimes intentions take over and are stronger than common sense. You ended this on a good note and a rational way of thinking. Good for you.

Wow, I really like this! You set it up to be a sad story but add a refreshing happy twist at the end! Well done on you! Only a couple of little errors. ' She stuffed clothes...'~to~ She stuffed IN clothes...'. 'people who would cared.'~to~'people who would HAVE cared.'~or~'So many people will care'. Also I'm not sure if it's your style but 'she' is repeated a lot, maybe take some out, or give this charachter a name? Thanks for shareing and keep on writing! :)
