poem #23

The ghost of grass has seen the world,
seen the world's whole history
Paving gardens, many meadows,
sand dunes by the estuary

Seen the wars, the new and the old,
the reasons for fighting it never was told
Seen the heroes of sight and sound,
many of whom are now in the ground
Seen all creatures that on it walked,
Man's merciless march, not stopped

But will it conquer the darkest cave,
to miss the Earth meeting its grave?
