The Solitary Poet

The Solitary Poet

A Poem by Bipolarbear.979

The frosted moon hangs high
The poet sits admiring
Alone
Yet smiling
A strike of a match
The smell of sulfur fills the air
Momentarily
A sizzle
The candle leaps to life
In a burst of bittersweet flame
Still the lone poet smiles
For their lover is coming
The lover behind the smile
The poet's heart pounds with passion
Waiting
Anticipating
A cloud passes swiftly over the night-orb
The solitary poet watches
Then closes their eyes
There is time to rest
Before the lover arrives

I really enjoyed reading this poem and it also had me waiting with patience for the lover's arrival. Job well done, sir. Thank you for sharing your art.
