Darkness DescendsA Poem by Billy Van
In the midst of midnight, the storm clouds
gather;
My trepidation ascending"
Darkness descends,
A stroke of death falls against my caring
eyes,
It severs me,
And darkly my blood drips to the barren land.
In horror I call your name
While Death’s form descends with the
darkness.
Now alone: my cry of mercy falls upon
uncaring eyes.
The night falls in a heavy, suffocating
cloak; I stand cold and alone.
The emotion for which I pine
Dies with vengeful certainty,
Devoured by the all-encompassing darkness
Of my wretched soul"
All hope must sicken and die!
My soul thrives no more!
How could you abandon me?:
Angels surround me, crying,
Tears cascading like black acid rain,
Burning my flesh
The acerbic tears run deep;
Slowly my dread grows as I am
Scorned by Heaven"
Hell is full,
Or so I am told.
As I stand before Death, the dark memories
gather;
My foreboding angst descending"
The angry hand of Heaven ascends,
I am mutilated by such a force that my
essence
Releases
and escapes from my soul,
In
torment I cry out: Why?!
As the Reaper laughs cruelly;
Now alone: my supplication falls upon
soulless eyes.
A martyr of accusations enter
This darkened chamber as I kneel,
Forlorn,
Silent,
Frozen here,
Waiting,
For the angelic forms that wrought in panes
To wisp down from Heaven and salvage
My tainted soul,
Thus forming an image in my mind"
Paleness on my face.
I raise my head, now submitting to
God’s wretched plan.
