QUICKSAND

QUICKSAND

A Poem by Bill Grimes Jr.

Walking down a lonely road

Requires a solitary mind

Void of apprehension

Open to a higher consciousness

Beware of the quicksand

Pockets of seductive misery

The cost of self enlightenment

Separates one from the play around you

One step at a time

Inching ever prominent

Never looking back

I’ve crashed and burned a thousand times

I’m sure I will again

Settling in

To permanent peace of mind
