SEEKING SIGNIFICANCE

SEEKING SIGNIFICANCE

A Poem by Bill Grimes Jr.

Never been afraid of dying
Just the thought of my children crying
Trudging along each day
Seeking significance
Plots
Knotted nicely
It’s the drama I despise
Militant mindsets
Lyrical laughter
Low maintenance mirth
Vintage verity
Complications
Purely consequential
Life of pain
What’s left of it
After thirty loaded years
Arthritic hip ablaze
Rumors of tumors
Cheating death some believe
Not hardly says I
Merely stalling paradise
Old man dozing
Years flying by him
Lot’s of water under his bridge
I smile with realization
He is me
Simply no worries
As it should be

I like how you painted life with such intense yet vibrate
words, you've described your life as road for us to follow with our eyes
as we make our own with our feet. We all seek significance in our lives
a meaning to living, some evidence that we belong and we all get wounded
along the way. Great poem Bill!

Yes, I take this to be a very revealing insight into who Bill Grimes truly is. Okay, so I don't suddenly know everything about you, but this poem shows that there are so many ups and downs in our lives. There are so many scary things that can happen to us, or that we can do to ourselves. We worry, people worry about us. Yes you are deffinitly human, BIll. These lines are just beautiful, "Cheating death some believe Not hardly says I Merely stalling paradiseOld man dozingYears flying by himLot's of water under his bridgeI smile with realizationHe is me." NIce job, friend.

Hi Bill, my favorite line of your poem is "Just the thought of my children crying". Nothing that makes be feel more significant in my life than that for sure. You brought to mind a memory from when I was very young and I came upon an even younger friend crying because he realized that at some point he would be gone from here and maybe no one would remember him. I was too young and the intensity of his feelings were very confusing and scary for me. I realized later that he was way ahead of his time. Thanks for reminding me that all the pain of life means we are still here. Beautiful work!
