It starts with a face and ends up a fixation.

I wrote a story. It was you.
Nouns, adjectives,
Commas, colons.
Somehow your blood worked its way
into each letter,
and though I thought of other things --
though I thought of time and space,
structure and information --
the finished project
was a continuous portrait
of your face.
