Island of my love

Island of my love

A Poem by The Elder Pine

Just a pace further up the path
Where bathing in the escape is legal
Leaving the dove down easy
To trek another path

How long could last?
Variable interest long extinguished
Summer’s warm bled away
Winter snow, heart beat to a crawl

So slow the rhythm of the drum
Weak-withering-within these walls
These four lonely crypts of soul
She drifted away, amongst the storm

Can not last longer than the fortnight
Should have foretold the fainting light

Upon my hands a shattered hourglass
Shards pressed to my palms-
Bleeding as anemia sets in
Only one I ever loved
Only soul who ever cared
Smashed upon my hands

Gone are the days-of summer
The days I could keep her
Heart intact, from breaking
Upon these sullen shores

About
Writing is my savior. It has become my outlet and my release, as well as my greatest passion. I dream of a career as a poet, possibly sprinkling in a few novels along the way. I operate on two levels.. more..
