Into the lions denA Poem by The Elder Pine
Into the lions den
To face the din of listlessness
The refuse of broken marrow
The sorrow of the spine
Veins of family-forgotten!
Even if death claims
Black hearts shall sing no more
For this sacrifice
Ends the blasphemy
Revives the generation
Lost-now found
This is absolution!
The resurrection of the words
Last kind syllables
As their teeth crumble
The carnage ends
Lost lambs hear the call
End this suffering
Pledge new suffrage
The waning moon
Shines anew
The ivory fang is claimed!
Renaissance shall shine!
As the dawn chorus rises
