A Warrior Like None Other

A Warrior Like None Other

A Poem by Bigbear3604

A warrior like none other

I would walk the fields of old
Those of ancient Achaea and Rome
Just to show my courage
To show my honor
To show the power of my soul
My daemon not consume me
But fires my fury and my compassion
For war is a two headed sword
To victory and death
To leave the world behind
For the latter of these two
Is inevitable destiny bound
Bound by the contract with the living
And lastly sealed by the dead
I would bear my shield and sword
Against my enemies
The enemies of all those I love
But those times have long passed
Where love was considered a virtue
All of time has past
To bring me to this time
To fight the battles I fight today
With courage of a true warrior
One that would have gained renown
Whether it be as a Spartan
Whether it be as a Roman
I dare not fear
For this reason
I charge my inner enemies brandishing my sword
And shield myself from the terrible things of the world
I stand at the side of all those great
I shall die a soldier’s death
For we are all destined to die
Why not go down fighting?
