Hourglass

Hourglass

A Poem by Kyari Hasutto

Look at the hourglass

Look at the memories

Look at them sliding right through

Look at the hourglass

Look at the grains of sand

Look at the thoughts that they hold

Think of the moments that

We’ve spent together and

Think of the fun times it’s been

Think of the times when it

Seemed to go faster and

Think of the times when it slowed

Look at the hourglass

Look at the moments of

Wondering how long we have left

Look at the hourglass

Look at the grains of sand

Look at how few there are left

We’ve spent most of our lives together

And now we have to go

But now we have memories

Of all that we’ve done

Resting at the base of the hourglass

Remember the hourglass

Remember the memories

When you glance at the sand

Remember the classes

Remember the teachers

When you let go of my hand

It’s time for us to move on

It’s time for us to leave

And though right now,

We’re happy to go

We still don’t want to let go…

Of our

Look at the hourglass

Look at the grains of sand

Look at the thoughts that they hold

Look at the hourglass

Look at the memories

Look at them sliding right through

The story behind this is that I was playing a piece out of a Jon Schmidt book (amazing guy) and he had written a piano piece for his graduating class. I tried my own hand at it...and ended up coming up with lyrics to it. I already have the melody picked out, but I need honest advice on the words. The first stanza is pretty much set in stone, and the third one is close as well. All of the others though...feel free to pick at. In fact, please do.

Well structured. Sometimes repetition makes for bland poetry but in this case it works well. Nice to read you again. Its been a long time.

Jon Schmidt, huh? I'll have to LOOK him up! (*lame joke!* *lame joke!*)

Do you have a clip of the music online? I would love to hear it!
