Silence

Silence

A Poem by Kyari Hasutto

With a silence that cannot be broken,

the whispers of love disappear.

And so since the words are unspoken,

the lovers no longer draw near.

Then night after night they sit, lonely,

not able to love or to care.

After calling each other their "only,"

the betray'l leaves no room to share.

This silence of anger, this silence of hate,

this silence of lackluster time;

this silence of continuing weight, and

this silence of still quiet chimes,

hangs overhead to disarm them,

to threaten them with every line

that they speak to condemn.

And now, they're gone by design.
