The Dreamer of the SnakeA Chapter by Kyari HasuttoFalling asleep was
easy. Staying asleep was easy. Waking up was harder. He was in her dream, a
snake like the true person he was. The copper scales were the exact color of
his hair, each glistening in the light. His ebony eyes pierced her to the core,
reminding her of every little thing. It appeared to be
sunny, though the details of the surroundings were fuzzy in her mind. She knew
she was outside on the grass because she could feel it under her feet. He slithered
through it, occasionally poking his head up to make sure she was there. She
skittered backwards, and then scrambled upwards, starting to run. She didn’t
want him getting anywhere near her if at all possible. She ran as fast as
she could, but every time she looked back, he was still there, just as close as
before. While looking back, she tripped
over a branch, falling on her face. He
slithered closer, crawling up her leg. She rolled over and grabbed him with
both hands. He grew larger, and she couldn’t hold onto him any longer. As she
once again stood up and tried to back away, he coiled around her and began
tightening his body. She couldn’t
breathe. Her ribs began cracking. And then she woke
up. © 2010 Kyari Hasutto |
