Stanzas on FriendshipA Poem by Kyari Hasutto
I'm all excited to talk to her, but
After it's over, my heart aches in despair I can't get a word in, even if I do It's shrugged off with a simple glance When she has something to tell me, I listen in earnest When I want to talk--she doesn't quite care I know it seems selfish to ask for an ear-- But if you lean on my shoulder, can't I lean on yours? Each day I anticipate talking with you Hoping this will be the chance That you finally listen and respond in kind I don't want to be your reluctant hero. I read all your writings: you ignore all of mine. I take most of your suggestions, though you seldom heed mine. I listen to your music: you turn off mine instead. You show off your accomplishments, refusing to nod at me. I try and I try, to let this problem go But it comes right back and slaps me in the face Reminding me that you don't truly, really seem to care But I go on hoping that someday you will. I never interject a single comment For fear that it'll be instantly shot down Perhaps it's not the best for me to hang around with you What can I do instead? © 2009 Kyari HasuttoReviews
