Entry Thirteen: Blame

Entry Thirteen: Blame

A Chapter by Kyari Hasutto

Has it ever happened to you where you feel completely responsible for something bad that occurred, even though it was out of your control?

Sometime last night, I was home alone and the phone rang. I picked it up and was greeted for a voice asking for my mom. “She’s not here right now; can I take a message?” I’m not quite sure what happened next, but all I remember is that they hung up.

Later, I lay in my bed, trying to fall asleep. My dad walked in and asked, “Who called while we were gone?” I told him and then he said, “Jamie’s family was in an accident.” I think I stopped breathing until he went on to say that Jamie hurt her cheek and that was it as far as major injuries.

But what affected me the most was how he got slightly upset at me not answering the phone properly. It almost seemed as if he was blaming me for them getting hurt. No, that’s not it…it was more like it was my entire fault for…something. It’s not like I could’ve done anything. I can’t drive, so I couldn’t go and help.

I still don’t know what to do about Eric. I’ll see him tomorrow, and hopefully he will be in a good mood…

I think we all feel like that at one point or another. Wow, a good turn in the story that I wasn't expecting. What will happen tomorrow with Eric?!
