Game of lifeA Story by Mirza Mehak
I rolled the dice. Dumbly hoping for a six but happily settled for the close 5. Just missed the tongue of the slithering creature now hissing at me from the square right ahead. Did a twirl on my spot teasing the red vein ahead only till my turn came yet again. I rolled the dice. Hoping not to see a 1. My wish was heard but the 6 I got, swallowed me never the less. It wasn’t that painful if you ask me. Sliding all the way down from the peak closest to the end. It was just a fall not a death. I still had chances I still had hopes. But now I had a memory of new emotions, first the unnerving fear of the fall and then the high of standing up again. This time will aim for the win not the end. I rolled the dice. Not minding a ladder but hoping for the snake. © 2016 Mirza Mehak |
