Who I am

Who I am

A Poem by Brook Hughes

Here as I sit, the days go by
Not one cloud fills the sky
I sit in my cell with a bed and chair
I look out the window with a cold hard stare
Watching as cars go by
Wondering why I never tried
I struggle and push till i'm put in the car
As I sit behind these rusty old bars
I think about the choice I've made
Knowing consequences have to be paid
I sit knowing the poem gets longer
Knowing that after I will be stronger
Trying to find people to blame
Knowing the offender is still the same
Acting like someone I will never be
Knowing that the offender is me.

I'm a big fan of rhyme, I must say I enjoyed this
very much. It all fit together perfectly and so
melancholic...
