What hurts the most...

What hurts the most...

A Poem by Bhavya Kaushik
"

inspired by the song "What hurts the most"

"

...

WHAT HURTS THE MOST……?

Waking up and getting ready for the day,

Living everyday but being trapped in this old hutch.

Yes, I can…I can live my life all this way,

As… that does not bother me much

I'm not a felon or committed any serious crime,

Then why am I paying such a great cost.

Of only loving you even more than my life,

But that is not what hurts the most….

To walk alone without any destination in this rains,

To lonely cry these tears and letting them to meet the sea.

To have an empty heart but with so much pain,

But now none of them hurts me…

Whenever I meet our old friends, I force a smile,

As I have no answer for their questions about us.

Whenever I see your photograph, a tear rolls out of my eyes,

But that does not bother me so much…

Often when I close my eyes, I hear your voice,

Saying that "I'm still here by your side…"

I have no other choice than to live with this void,

But now I'm fine as for that I have already cried.

Whenever they ask me – Then… " What hurts the most…? "

All I could say is …. ….

What hurts the most was being so close

Having so much to say but watching you walking away

And pretending all the way that everything is just ok

To wait for you every night and every other day

Hallucinating myself that one day you would be back again

Unselfishly still loving you and every pain which you gave

Recollecting the words which I kept in my heart but never said

Those words which I left unspoken for always

Still I'm living but with every second I have this regret.

That the last words which you said was – "I love you, but…"

How you made me feel like... "What more could I do?"

Else I have no other complain from you…

Masochistically I'm getting it very well with this ache,

Out of which I know I can't come back.

Superfluity of this pain now began to take its toll,

The thing which hurts the most… was being so close…

.....

What hurts the most…was being so close…. ….

Author's Note

Bhavya Kaushik
Totally inspired by the song "What hurts the most" :)
And the lines - "What hurts the most was being so close
Having so much to say but watching you walking away" has been taken from the song itself...
So..that's it..
:) :)

It is also like... an half acrostic work ..I mean the one of "What hurts the most " :D

Out of which I know I can't come back.

I think so too. Your feelings are too intense and your attachment is too much. Perhaps it is your sensitivity that draws such great poems out of you.
If one has loved truly, it is not possible to forget or replace that love with another, no matter how 'worldly perfect' the latter happens to be.

As you get better with every work, I find that I'm running short of words to review you!!

The thing which hurts the most was being so close

Being so close. Yep. The thing which hurts the worst, I think!!!
It's a really sad one. Heartfelt, sincere. I always appreciate how real your poems are. When you're ecstatic about Love your words rise to flowery and abstract realms; complimenting the idealistic view from the rose-tinted glasses of the moment.
When your heart is broken your words contract, and we your readers crouch down with you in the corner, hold your hand, listen to what was done. Your personality is infused into your work. It's beautiful. It's art. You have the power of 'the human touch' Bhayva, I know you will continue to use and develop it and I will continue to both enjoy and grow more and more comfortable with your work.
And so I instantly identify with the clarity of the emotion captured here.
I personally know the suffering of separation from a significant other; having half of myself, pieces of my memories; of my SMILE, ripped away and cast off into the empty space of 'things have changed and are not the way they used to be'.
And, oh, no, the having to smile whole like that half hasn't been taken away, making up for the loss of happiness, and the loss of a huge chunk of yourself that had been embodied in someone else. It's a nightmare.
Thank you for sharing!

Yeah, completely letting down your guard and letting the person get so close to you definitely makes us more vulnerable for the worst kind of heartbreak. The second half is sort of like the conclusion of the thing and very creative in acrostic form. Well done!

what a beautiful piece of work....to love so deeply and then have it slip away...the pain it causes, the hurt, the realization that that person is not coming back, despite what you tell your heart...

to have loved and lost is probably better than not to have loved at all, though your heart may tell you otherwise. to learn from this and to go on is probably better and i know from bitter experience that maybe it was for the better.

wonderful job, Bhavya.

Always,

This was not JUST a poem....it was a story in itself. I have read a few other works of yours and find that the best thing about them is the way you make them flow ever so smoothly and naturally, making it all seem unbelievably realistic!

One of my all time favorite songs. Ill never forget when I first heard it. It made me cry harder than I had cried in...probably years.
This piece you wrote...using some of the Rascal Flatts words...really added to your own emotional input. Wonderful imagery with the pictures.
this is a very haunting piece...I must read more of your work. You are very talented. ;)

Although inspired by the song it is written well by you.

I really like the way you put this together. It's unique, has style, rhythm, flow and a heartbeat. The direction captures the reader while the heartbeat keeps the poem alive to the last word. The style is like something I would have seen back in the day of the poets.
It is obvious that a lot of time and effort went into this to allow your emotions to pour out, flowing onto the canvas to script this beautiful poemnice write

Wow, a sad but truly great artistic poem!
I been through total hell in my life but my heart goes out to for all the pain I felt in that poem you wrote from your soul!
I must recite a famous saying here which "what does not kill you makes you stronger!" This principle truly showed in this great poem!
You are a great artistic poet and a very strong person to write such a strong soulful piece like this!
I 'm sure we both write to feel beter but also for the good of all mankind!
Good luck in all your future writtings and always remember tough times never last but tough people do!
But I guess we both believe and practice that belief because we are both still alive and still on this earth writing from our souls for the good of all souls!
Just keep writing brother, you are very good at what you do!
Always a friend and fellow writer,
TIM
