My Old Attic

My Old Attic

A Poem by Bhavya Kaushik
"

written about an year back! :P :P

"

 My old Attic…

Yesterday I was cleaning my old attic,

And I saw a box that wasn't in a good nick.

A bundle of old memories struck me,

And for it I found it isn't the place  to be.

I opened it and found your old letters in it,

And I realized why I kept them in the attic.

As I wanted to keep them away from this world,

Again I read them with each and every word.

They were once in my heart and not in the attic,

They were my religion and by me they were preached.

By you they were written at every single day and night,

They were by you hidden from everyone's sight.

And you wrote them twice for every single season,

But then I thought about your letters as they were of smell like    you,

I never burnt them because burning those means burning you.

They were written by you with your love and emotion,

I  never burnt them as it's the single proof of your devotion.

So I recollected every letter and kept them in the attic,

And it became the place that again I never visited.

Bhavya, your words are soulful and well written with concentration, as the reader can feel your passionate
thoughts flowing from the depths of your pen, in light of truth and memory and what it means to miss
someone who was once close to the heart, and in many ways, still is, and in ways we all have an old attic,
a place to return when the moment of desire suceeds any pain that would accomadate such memories,
this was a pleasure to read, thank you for sharing

I thought this is very heartfelt. I know I have kept a few letters that I will never get rid of. This is a good poem!

i think that it is nice to have something to remember people by...
i think i have only 2 or 3 cards i have reached in my whole life
let alone letters...and definately not from a love one
thank you for letting me peek into the world where people keep "love letters"
and how its feels like there for a moment in time

I think everyone keeps trinkets to remind them of a certain person or a time in their lives. I've got my box in my room. Beautiful poem. Well done.
