My Old Attic

My Old Attic

A Poem by Bhavya Kaushik
"

written about an year back! :P :P

"

 My old Attic…

Yesterday I was cleaning my old attic,

And I saw a box that wasn't in a good nick.

A bundle of old memories struck me,

And for it I found it isn't the place  to be.

I opened it and found your old letters in it,

And I realized why I kept them in the attic.

As I wanted to keep them away from this world,

Again I read them with each and every word.

They were once in my heart and not in the attic,

They were my religion and by me they were preached.

By you they were written at every single day and night,

They were by you hidden from everyone's sight.

And you wrote them twice for every single season,

But then I thought about your letters as they were of smell like    you,

I never burnt them because burning those means burning you.

They were written by you with your love and emotion,

I  never burnt them as it's the single proof of your devotion.

So I recollected every letter and kept them in the attic,

And it became the place that again I never visited.

Bhavya, your words are soulful and well written with concentration, as the reader can feel your passionate
thoughts flowing from the depths of your pen, in light of truth and memory and what it means to miss
someone who was once close to the heart, and in many ways, still is, and in ways we all have an old attic,
a place to return when the moment of desire suceeds any pain that would accomadate such memories,
this was a pleasure to read, thank you for sharing

You are amazing as the reader is compelled to experience these emotions right along with you. Everything about
your work consumes my heart... I have read several pieces by you now, love, and I burn with emotion each time...
Imagery is awesome... theme conveys an incredibly sad but real message...putting the past behind...perhaps
keeping just a part of what made it special but knowing that it's gone forever. And you clearly understood this by
the verse that has made your life a part of mine now. I'm sure many of your audience feels the way I do.
A part of 'you' lives in that attic... By the way, your format and choice of photos are perfect, as always. But know
what the best part is? The best chapter of your life lies ahead... I adore your work, Bhavya!!

*hugs*

Dear Bhavya,
I'm firstly very sorry for your loss.Writing about past relationship is always hard but finally it results into great work like this. The flow is really mind blowing. I loved it!

I fully agree with other reviewers about the concept of "love letter" in it..And therefore it became so personal. Thanks a lot for sharing it here

I know a song which states that "I have souvieneers but yesterday can't mean too much" sometimes lettng go is nearly impossible and sometimes you should never forget completly. Moments between yourself and your past can be magical. I enjoyed reading this is definantly brings back memories.
