AdieuA Poem by Bharat B TrivediFarewell to Life...Before I depart, let us stroll on the silky shores, bare-footed, and collect handful of sandy spiral seashells. Let’s gather the sea in our palm-cups, while the saline silvery waves soak us till our bodies are transparent, shining like silvery stars ferrying on the feathers of fluffy clouds. Before I shut my eyes, let the sizzling sun and mischievous moon play the incessant game of chess on the sky’s contoured chessboard of white-squared days and black-squared nights. And like a solitary pawn, I will watch them afar waiting for death’s concluding checkmate… Before I’m reduced to ashes let the lamp of my life glow brightly with the radiant oil of love and longing, yearning for the cruel fate to put out the flame of my life while my desires stay buried deep with my vestiges in the urn. Before this night fades away and slumber stirs me, let the mist of your memories march on my mind’s crimson mat for I know that although your closeness is not chiselled in my destiny, yet I eternally wait for the lotus of love to blossom in your heart’s Before I bid Adieu and pen my last poem, let me retrospect how swiftly this treacherous life has ended! And if I were to die tomorrow, I would borrow a few precious moments from my Creator - for I have lived as if I was never going to die and I will die as if I never lived… Copyright©2011 Bharat B.
