How a Heart Dies

How a Heart Dies

My heart is callusing.

Every time you hurt me, I feel another layer form.

I become numb. I cry less. Care less.

My heart is heavier.

Day by day, it is weighed down by expectations.

I become depressed. I laugh less. Care less.

My heart stops beating.

Today, I feel the last amount of light leave my temple.

I become dark. The hope in my eyes faded. And you could care less.

This is deep. I love the repetition of the last line. Adds impact.
Great work.

This is so, so, heart wrenching and lovely. Solemn yet beautiful, and this is far beyond my words. I am astonished by you. Please, please write more.
