Closure

When you leave things unfinished you find yourself unable to move on. That's how I felt. I believe that many people don't realize that it takes two people to build a relationship, but also to break it

Now that it's all over and you're gone,

There's something I missed, but what - I'm not sure.

Some things were left unsaid and undone,

Now I know that I need closure.

We ended so quickly and harshly,

We both said things we didn't really mean.

I guess that's why I keep coming back,

Because some things were done - that never should have been.

I never got to tell you so many things.

How your actions often made me worry.

I never got to show you my feelings,

Like the fact that - I'm really sorry.

I messed up and hurt you in the end.

The truth is, I think we both did.

I ruined a bond that I shouldn't have bent

And you always kept your feelings hid.

I told you so many times the things that hurt me.

How I spent all those nights crying myself to sleep.

And you still did those things so easily,

While your apologies were always so weak.

But it wasn't just your fault. It was mine too.

I closed myself because I thought you didn't care.

Believe me, I never wanted to hurt you,

Even when I kept quiet and avoided your stare.

I wanted to make things right.

I wished to talk to you and try to ease our pain.

But even if I tried with all my might,

Now it's too late and all of my efforts were in vain.

But I still need to do the right thing.

That's why I needed to say this all along.

Even though I wanted to take my part of the blame,

I guess now it's time to move on.

It's time to close the curtains on this play.

No next shows, this time is the last - I'm sure.

And now that it's all said and done

I finally get - my closure.

One so wise for one so young. It takes many years to establish a real relationship and sometimes that isn't enough. As you grow older time will make you a little wiser a little stronger and what is left unfinished might be better off left unfinished...A deep piece for sure!
